About The Feeding Whisperer

About ‘The Feeding Whisperer’

Five years ago The Feeding Whisperer went live!

The Feeding Whisperer nickname however came three years earlier from one of my NHS Feeding cafe’s, when I was supporting a mother with her feeding journey.

I’m not going to lie, her journey wasn’t easy with sore nipples, engorgement, mastitis and low mood whilst baby had had neonatal jaundice, was slow to regain birth weight and top ups. With each challenge we would talk about what she would like to do and then we’d put a plan in place- a plan that was crucially achievable for mum, (she told me later I never ever made her feel worthless even when the plans didn’t go to plan ).

Ten weeks into her feeding journey she came into group pulled me aside and said ‘You are my Feeding Whisperer’….. mum and baby continued their feeding journey for nearly two years.

The nickname kind of stuck around over the years.

My Personal Experience

I currently work for the NHS in community and taking the lead on Infant Feeding. I’ve dedicated almost two decades to supporting families on their feeding journeys.

As a mother of two children, I’ve experienced distinct feeding journeys with each of them. These personal experiences have added depth to my understanding and empathy for the challenges faced by mothers and babies alike.

What Sets Me Apart

What sets me apart from other practitioners is the practical and evidence-based care and support I provide to both mother and baby. I understand that feeding journeys are often a continuous process, and my visits may not provide an instant fix. I recognise that these situations require time and patience.

I am here to assist mothers or mothers-to-be at any stage of their feeding journey. Whether you are contemplating your feeding journey during pregnancy, navigating the early days and weeks of your baby’s life, establishing a feeding routine, or seeking support at any point in your journey, I am here to offer a listening ear, compassionate non-judgmental support, and evidence-based information.

Your journey is unique, and I am committed to helping you make it as smooth and successful as possible.
